I read your essay regarding your youth in Mississippi and found it utterly fascinating and very well written. I want to thank you for your words. They were insightful, frightening, and humbling. So thanks.
P.S. Please keep writing and educating our youth on the importance of communication. I can’t help but think that many of the terrors wrought upon you could have been prevented with just a little bit of empathy and an open ear/mind.
Our class just finished reading “How To Slowly Kill Yourself And Other in America: A Remembrance”. We all enjoyed the story so much. We think you are a wonderful author. We learned that we need to REMEMBER what went on in African -American history others life stories and experiences because history repeats itselfs, and if we know what went on we can prevent it from happening again. We are anxiously waiting on “On Parole: An Autobiographical Antidote to Post-Blackness”. Until then BEST WISHES!
